Journal of Pathology: Clinical Research

A Major Society Benefit of Membership

In 2015, The Society together with John Wiley & Sons Ltd published the first issue of The Journal of Pathology: Clinical Research.  This new Journal is Online Only and fully Open Access.  As explained in an editorial available in full here, it offers a "more clinically orientated companion journal to the Journal of Pathology that will retain all of its qualities: its rigour and attention to detail; its speedy and robust review process; its international perspective; its experienced editorial team; and its commitment to excellence".

The Journal of Pathology: Clinical Research focuses on studies that illuminate the clinical relevance of research in the broad area of the study of disease.  The journal received a first Impact Factor of 3.489 in the 2019 Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate Analytics). This placed The Journal of Pathology: Clinical Research 20th of 78 journals in Pathology, and in a similar position to Histopathology (3.626, 18th of 78) and the American Journal of Pathology (3.491, 19th of 78). Moreover, the Journal is listed higher than Virchows Archiv (2.906, 24th of 78), Human Pathology (2.735, 27th of 78) and the Journal of Clinical Pathology (2.460, 30th of 78). This is an excellent position from which to build the Journal over the next few years.  All accepted articles can be found in PubMed within days of publication.

Author guidelines are available here and manuscripts can be submitted via this portal at ScholarOne Manuscripts.

The “Publication Grant Scheme” was set up to mark this establishment of The Journal of Pathology: Clinical Research. This grant is open to Corresponding Authors who are Society Members in good standing (for a minimum of 12 months) and whose papers have been accepted for publication in the Journal of Pathology: Clinical Research.  Members should indicate during the submission process that they anticipate that the Society will pay the article processing charge.  Eligibility will be determined by the Journal in conjunction with the Society, and the charge paid if the paper is accepted.
