We are delighted to welcome you to The Queen’s College, Oxford for our fifth symposium. Across the two day symposium, we have a series of lectures and slide seminars by leading names in the field addressing key problems, issues, and advancements, and a traditional Oxford college dinner.
The Venue
The Queen’s College, Oxford
Founded in 1341 by Robert de Eglesfield in honour of Queen Philippa, The Queen’s College, Oxford began as a small community of fellows, chaplains, and scholars with a preference for students from Cumberland and Westmorland. Over the centuries, benefactors such as Bishop Thomas Barlow and Lady Elizabeth Hastings helped the College grow in wealth and influence. Its striking Baroque architecture, including the renowned Library and Front Quad, reflects its 18th-century transformation.
Today, Queen’s maintains a strong academic reputation and continues to honour its northern heritage through modern outreach initiatives like its partnership with The Access Project.

Professor of Pathology, Perelman School of Medicine and University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA
Dr. Kum Cooper, originally from South Africa, is a distinguished pathologist with extensive international training and academic leadership. He holds fellowships from both the College of Pathologists of South Africa (FFPath SA) and the Royal College of Pathologists in the UK (FRCPath), and earned his DPhil from Oxford University (Linacre College). Dr. Cooper has held prominent roles including Chair of Anatomical Pathology at the University of Witwatersrand, Vice-Chair and Director of Anatomic Pathology at the University of Vermont, and currently serves as Professor of Pathology and Surgical Pathologist at the University of Pennsylvania.
Professor Pathology and Dermatology, UT – MD Anderson Cancer Center
Victor G Prieto, MD, PhD, Professor Pathology and Dermatology, UT – MD Anderson Cancer Center. Residency and Dermatopathology training at the NYH-Cornell Medical Center, and Fellowship in Oncologic Pathology at MSKCC. Prior director of the Dermpath and SurgPath Fellowships; Department chair of Pathology (2014-24). Research interests: molecular biology of melanocytic neoplasms and immunohistochemical analysis of cutaneous neoplasms.
Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania
Dr. Tom Hu, a native of Michigan, pursued his pathology residency and cytopathology fellowship at the University ofPennsylvania, where he now serves as a faculty member.He is deeply passionate about medical education, particularly favoring interactive slide sessions and case based teaching formats. His academic interests focus on non-neoplastic inflammatory breast lesions, as well as salivary gland and soft tissue cytopathology.
